Gregg Thompson  

Gregg Thompson

 

Gregg started The Edge in 1988.  He wanted to offer a program for the focused soccer player.  A program that is challenging yet exciting and fun.  "Our program is outstanding.  The morning session is dedicated to dramatically increasing footskills and ball control.  The afternoon session teaches the players tactics and finishes with an 11 vs 11 tournament game.  The evening sessions are filled with small sided tournaments...giving the players a chance to use the skills and tactics they learned in the morning and afternoon sessions."  

 

Gregg's credentials include:

  • Member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic Soccer Team.  During the XXIII Olympics, Gregg scored the go-ahead goal in the match against Egypt.
  • Member of the U.S. National Team.
  • A six year professional player.
  • Rookie of the Year.
  • Represented the U.S. in the qualifying rounds of the 1986 World Cup.
  • The #1 pro draft choice coming out of college.
  • Captained Indiana University to the NCAA Division 1 Soccer Championship scoring both goals in the championship game and was named Tournament MVP.
  • Athlete of the Year in the state of Minnesota.
  • Graduate of Stillwater High School Stillwater, MN

The Edge Residential Soccer Camp was started in 1988 by Gregg Thompson.  The mission of The Edge is to offer the highest level of coaching in a fun and exciting atmosphere.  Our staff consists of Division I, II & III college coaches from around the country.
